With 99% of the votes counted, Socrates Famellos secured 49.41% of the votes and emerged victorious over Pavlos Polakis, who secured 43.51%.

Socrates Famellos was elected the new president of SYRIZA after Sunday's party elections. With 99% of the votes counted, Socrates Famellos secured 49.41% of the votes, emerging victorious over Pavlos Polakis, who secured 43.51%.

The polls for the election of the new president of SYRIZA closed at 20:00, after being extended by one hour due to the continued turnout of party members to vote.

According to sources at the party headquarters, the total number of voters, both domestic and international, was 70,152, of which about 11,000 were new registrations.

The voting process took place at 465 polling stations nationwide, which were open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, with the four candidates being Socrates Famellos, Pavlos Polakis, Nikolaos Farantouris, and Apostolos Gletsos.

Those aged 15 and over who were either already members of the party or registered as members when they arrived at the polling stations, even on election day, were entitled to vote.
