The Ellinikon Experience Park, which opened to the public in December 2021, just six months after LAMDA Development acquired Ellinikon, is already one of the many landmarks the company aspires to create in the context of the largest urban regeneration in Europe, having completed three years of operation with more than 3 million visitors in just a few days.
As previously announced, Ellinikon Park is set to become one of the world's largest coastal parks, serving as a crucial link between the coastal front and the mountainous area of Hymettus, while also serving as a vital green space for Athens' urban fabric.
We have completed the studies and licensing for the first phase of the park to date. The first phase, as announced, includes, in addition to the Experience Park already constructed, the areas of the Aviation Hangars, the Canoe Kayak Lake, the park's Central Pedestrian Walkway, Olympic Square, and the Trachona Stream. Together with the park's sports facilities, which are already under construction, this is a huge area of over 800 acres. We expect to complete the construction in phases from late 2026 to 2027.
The internationally renowned architectural firm Sasaki, which has designed and implemented some of the largest and most impressive urban parks in the world, in collaboration with the Greek firm Doxiadis, is underwriting the design and planning of the park.
As LAMDA Development's CEO, Odysseas Athanasiou, has stated, the park is a new proposal that introduces in our country and internationally a new-modern way of life, where nature, people and the most advanced applications of technology will coexist in harmony. The investor's money will exclusively build and operate the park, creating a space-experience that caters to citizens of all ages.
The Olympic Square, at the heart of the park, will be a point of reference for young and old, while the on-site amphitheatre will be able to host concerts and other events. At the highest point of the park, works of art by international and Greek artists will be exhibited.
In an area larger than the Areos Field, thematic areas such as vineyards, olive groves and fields will be created, inviting visitors on a journey of discovery of Greek agriculture.
The main building of the former Eastern Airport of Elliniko, which served as the gateway to Athens for decades, dominates the Saarinen area. The historic building is taking on new life as a cultural and event venue.
Already, the iconic Boeing 747 of Olympic Aviation has been moved within the park area next to the former East Airport building, where it will remain and be integrated into the design of the area as a tribute to the glorious past and history of Hellenikon Airport and Olympic Aviation.
The Trachona Stream, with works at an advanced stage, is being delineated and its bed is being released, resulting in the revitalisation of the local ecosystem and the transformation of the surrounding area.
The reconfigured 2004 Olympic Games Canoe Kayak Pond will be a focal point with magnificent views of the park, and visitors will be able to enjoy the beauty and serenity of this unique water feature.
A large part of the Hellenikon Cultural Route will also pass within the park. A 12 km route, where visitors will have the opportunity to discover and tour the rich history of the Elliniko area, with 14 monuments and findings from the classical and
