Despite intra-day volatility and market fatigue, investors managed to keep the Athens Stock Exchange in the green, despite the challenges.
Somehow, the Greek market did the 5×5, with the cumulative change for the period exceeding +4.5%, ignoring the justified tendency to consolidate recent gains and remaining at its highest level since late September.
The German DAX's ascent to consecutive all-time highs undoubtedly provided valuable support. As long as the investment psychology abroad remains positive, the chances of convergence with the major target of 1,502 points increase.
In this environment, in the last session of the week, the General Index posted a subtle 0.05% increase to 1,456.52 points, gaining 0.7 points compared to Thursday's close (1,455.81 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at eight points (from 1,452.18 to 1,460.74 points), with a turnover of 122.2 million euros, of which 12.3 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.
The banking index, despite intra-day difficulties, completed its 5th consecutive rise, ending up +0.60% at 1,280 points. This, in fact, lifted the weekly change to a highly impressive +11.4%.
Piraeus shares widened +1.60% and 3,876 euros, Alpha shares followed at +0.74% and 1,643 euros, NBG shares were almost unchanged at 7.4 euros, while Eurobank shares rose +0.72% and 2,236 euros, touching one-year and 9-year highs (2.24 euros).
Attica Bank's shares deserve special mention for their continued rally, reaching a high of 0.7 euros/share (+5.23%) for the third consecutive day. The bank's valuation exceeded EUR 1.1 million.
In the high-cap index (+0.19% and 3,551 points), PPC shares were up +0.9% and 11.8 euros, with Metlen shares continuing their recovery from recent lows (+0.5% and 32.2 euros). At the same time, Hellaktor shares gained 0.6%. On the flip side, Motor Oil shares retreated to -2.3% and 20.1 euros. Shares of Lamda, Helleniq Energy, AIA, Sarantis and Aegean also slid by at least 1%, while shares of OTE and GEK Terna lost 0.6% each.
The mid-cap index (+0.06% and 2,298 points) saw Profile's shares stand out at +0.5% and 5.24 euros, while two packages worth a total of 1 million euros were traded in the morning. Intralot's shares experienced a mini rally of 4%, rising to 0.96 euros, surpassing Intracom's +8% gain from yesterday. Fourlis improved to +1.3% and 3.7 euros, while shares of Lavipharm, IPTO, HKE and Thrace Plastics slid at least 1%.
