The Athens Stock Exchange put a stop to the upward series of six consecutive sessions, which closed at the lowest point of the day.

Buyer fatigue, nervousness abroad ahead of central bank decisions, and the need to assimilate gains were some of the factors that tipped the scales in favour of the sellers.

However, all of this in no way changed the generally positive sentiment in the Greek market, which remained relatively comfortably above 1,450 points (2.5 months high) and remained on a convergence path with this year's "peaks" of 1,502 points.

Specifically, in the second session of the week, the General Index recorded a controlled decline of 0.42% to 1,458.81 points, losing six points compared to Monday's close (1,464.96 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 10 points (from 1,458.81 to 1,468.22 points), with a turnover of 147 million euros, of which 18.6 million euros were pre-agreed packages.

The banking index, which "ran" at a +13.2% pace over the previous six sessions, was quick to digest the gains, ending at -0.79% and 1,291 points.

Piraeus shares were limited to -2.02% and EUR 3.84, Alpha shares followed at -1.67% and EUR 1,621, Eurobank shares traded -0.22% and EUR 2,245, while NBG shares were almost unchanged at EUR 7.7.

In the high-cap index (-0.47% and 3,559 points), Jumbo shares expanded +1.6% and 26.5 euros, approaching the maximum price of the equity plan (27 euros), thanks to satisfactory sales in November. PPC shares also remained in positive territory (+1.2%), exceeding 12 euros, while Cenergy and Ellaktor gained 0.9% each. On the flip side, Helleniq Energy's shares, after yesterday's jump, corrected -1.8% and 7.00 euros. Autohellas, Lamda Development, Titan Cement, Aegean, AIA, GEK Terna, ELVALHALKOR and EVDAP lost at least 1% each.

As for the mid-cap index (-0.08% and 2,298 points), Intralot shares, despite the intra-day rally, finally settled at +0.9% and 0.98 euros, while Intracom shares were up +1% and 2.94 euros. Beyond that, Austriacard's shares stood out strongly at +4.2% and EUR 5.6, recovering from recent lows. Dimand also gained 2.8%. Conversely, shares of Quest and Lavipharm were down 1.2% and 1.4%, respectively, with shares of EXAE, PPA and Kri Kri trailing by around -0.9%.
