Controlled pressure is being exerted on the Athens Stock Exchange today (16/12), with investors calmly assessing the government's measures to reduce bank charges.

The important thing, however, is that the Greek market, despite the partial pullback, remains firmly above the psychological threshold of 1,450 points, not losing contact with the year highs and 13-year highs of 1,502 points.

All this while we are going through the last "full" five days of 2024 before the Christmas and New Year holidays, when investment activity is expected to decline to significantly lower levels compared to current levels.

Specifically, in the first session of the new week, the General Index declined slightly by 0.23% to 1,465.95 points, losing about 3.5 points compared to Friday's close (1,469.32 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations extends over three points (from 1,463.38 to 1,466.98 points), with a turnover of 7.3 million euros, of which 1.6 million euros are pre-agreed packages.

The banking index, in the wake of government measures estimated to impose a burden of 300 million euros, is calmly retracing -0.52% and 1,291 points.

Piraeus shares are limited to -1.32% and 3.88 euros, Alpha shares follow at -1.20% and 1.6005 euros, Ethnikis shares trade at -0.25% and 7.83 euros, while Eurobank shares fall to -0.32% and 2.205 euros.

In the high-cap index (-0.30% and 3,573 points), Coca-Cola's share is down -1.1% and 33.5 euros, with EYDAP's share following at -0.8% and 5.8 euros. OPAP, GEK TERNA, Autohellas and Cenergy retrace by up to 1%. On the flip side, Metlen shares continue their upward reaction at +0.9% and EUR 34.4 (2.5 months high).

As for the mid-cap index (-0.00% and 2,313 points), ADMIE shares stand out positively at +1% and approach 2.5 euros, receiving a boost from the 9-month financials. In contrast, Intralot and Intracom shares are down 0.8% and 1.2%, respectively. Trade Estates' shares are also down 1%.
