"The Athens Stock Exchange is trying to put a stop to the two-day downward streak today (14/1), with buyers regaining the "reins" and approaching the 1,500 points again

While the climate abroad is registering a slight improvement after the recent turmoil, which was the result of the reversal of estimates for the course of US interest rates, the Greek market is trying to "return" to positive territory, defending the gains of January.

Of course, caution remains dominant, which is mainly reflected in the maintenance of high bond yields. Indeed, let us not forget that in these circumstances, the auction of the 10-year Greek government bond began this morning.

Specifically, in the second session of the week, the General Index recorded a "measured" increase of +0.52% and stood at 1,497.94 points, gaining about eight points compared to Monday's close (1,490.22 points).

The arc of the daily fluctuations extends over three points (from 1,494.44 to 1,497.94 points), with the turnover of the trading volume hovering around 4 million euros in the first 15 minutes.

The banking index, after two days of significant 2025 gains, expands +0.78% to 1,352 points, returning to recent 9-year highs.

Eurobank's shares are up +1.27% and 2.315 euros, Piraeus' shares follow at +0.70% and 4.15 euros, Alpha's shares trade +0.82% and 1.713 euros, while Ethniki shares rise +0.22% and 8.038 euros.

In the high-cap index (+0.60% and 3,641 points), PPC shares are up +1.1% and 12.4 euros, bridging the gap from recent multi-year highs (12.7 euros). Viohalco, Ellaktor and ELVALHALCOR follow at +1%, while Titan Cement shares, which took the next step in the process of listing its US subsidiary on Wall Street (registration statement for an upcoming IPO), are heading towards a new all-time high (+1.2% and 40.6 euros).

As for the mid-cap index (+0.47% and 2,423 points), AVAX shares, after a three-day corrective streak, soar to +3.2% and 1.73 euros. Autohellas, Noval and Thrace Plastics rise around +1%. Special mention should be made of PPA, where turnover remains high thanks to the ongoing public offering by Leonidsport, which as of yesterday owns 2.1% of the share capital.
