Strong upward trends were recorded by stock prices at the beginning of today's session of the Athens Stock Exchange, with the turnover being stronger than in previous sessions amid an upward movement of the European markets.

Analysts continue to believe that the stock market has strong prospects this year; however, until yesterday, some portfolios appeared hesitant amid fears of a trade war.

The General Price Index, at 11:30, stands at 1,532.7 points, up 1% with a trading value of 26 million euros.

The high-cap index rises 1.21%, while the mid-cap index gains 1%. The banking index is up a significant 1.5% at 1,387.74 points.

Among the high-cap stocks, Viohalco, Piraeus, Coca-Cola HBC and Elvalhalcor recorded the biggest rise. On the contrary, the biggest decline was recorded by the shares of Titan and AIA.
