During a discussion in Parliament on the Tempe tragedy, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about attempts to create instability. He referred to the report from the National Aviation Investigation Agency and Railway Accidents and Transportation Safety (HARSIA), which he had with him, and emphasized that "the report highlights weaknesses but confirms the assessment that on that tragic night, human errors unfortunately collided with the enduring gaps of the state."
In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that the tragedy in Tempe resonates profoundly within the heart of society and that there must be a firm resolve to counter the distorted perceptions fueled by simplistic accusations and falsehoods. "We owe it to the families of the 57 victims of Tempe. They do not deserve to be used as a pawn in the aftermath of a tragic event that has shaken all of Greece," stated Mr. Mitsotakis.
He pointed out that certain groups are attempting to exploit this tragedy to create divisions, when it should instead serve as a catalyst for unity. He further remarked that the Tempe tragedy has been weaponized to reignite division and toxicity.
Mr. Mitsotakis affirmed that the government is dedicated to truth and justice, expressing his intention to underscore the peril of political discourse descending into a mire of skepticism and uncertainty.
