The President of SYRIZA-PS, Socrates Famellos, opened his address in Parliament with a fierce personal attack on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. 

Directing his remarks at the Prime Minister, he stated: “We welcome you back to the Plenary. We’ve awaited your presence for a long time. You have done everything possible to evade this discussion. However, our determination, the petition we filed in Parliament as SYRIZA-PS, and the efforts of Greek society have brought you here today. Here to answer for your actions. To be held accountable.”

He then posed a critical question: “Will you attend the preliminary investigation concerning the dumping, Mr. Mitsotakis? You must come forward to explain, especially since Mr. Triantopoulos served as Deputy Minister under your leadership and was solely accountable to you, taking orders strictly from you, as he has repeatedly stated. Who instructed him to oversee the dumping? We live in a country where everything occurs under your direction, but now that we are facing the cover-up and the dumping, you are at a loss for words.”

Famellos accused the Prime Minister of “misleading both society and justice. You and your far-right ministers attempted to fracture the populace with the false choice of ‘Mitsotakis or chaos’ to deter them from protests and assemblies. The real choice is not between Mitsotakis or chaos, but whether we will allow you to lead us into chaos. You won the 2023 elections by deceiving the public regarding the tragedy in Tempe. That was the intent behind your cover-up. This reveals the causal link that exposes your malevolence and underlying motive. You are desperately clinging to power. You are the Prime Minister of Tempe, of surveillance, of cartels, and of soaring prices. This summarizes your time in office.”
