The digital and organisational transformation of tax administrations is the theme of the annual OECD forum that will be held this year, for the first time, in Greece.
The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, Giorgos Pitsilis, participated in the meeting of the FTA Bureau (Forum of Tax Administrations) of the OECD last week in Paris, together with the heads of the tax administrations of the US, UK and Greece. In Paris, the US, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, India, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Chile, Norway, Sweden and Singapore attended the meeting.
The main topic of discussion was the conference, which will be hosted this year in Athens from November 13–15, on the transformation of tax administrations.
As Mr. Pitsilis said in his speech, the conference will emphasise the integration of digitalisation in the organisation and operation of tax administrations, with the aim of increasing efficiency in tackling tax evasion and serving taxpayers.
The aim of this year's conference is for OECD member tax administrations to share experiences and best practices of digital and organisational transformation, with the aim of:
increase efficiency, which reduces administrative burden for citizens and businesses, allowing tax administrations to allocate resources more strategically
strengthening compliance tools that minimise tax evasion and fraud and increase revenue collection
improving trust and cooperation with taxpayers, which are the basis for a more transparent and fair tax system.
The FTA is the largest and most important organisation of tax administrations, operating under the auspices of the OECD and listing more than 50 member countries. Participants share knowledge and develop new ideas to transform and modernise tax administration around the world.
