Displayed reasonable fatigue after 13-year highs
After rising to 1,500 points and investors rushing to process the 13-year highs, the Athens Stock Exchange displayed reasonable fatigue today, May 21.

Today, May 21, investors on the Athens Stock Exchange displayed understandable exhaustion as they made a quick halt after rising to 1,500 points and trying to process the 13-year highs.

The liquidations were completely controlled without taking on large proportions, with strong first quarter fundamentals offering selective support.

As a result, the Greek market's yield is now at +16% through 2024, with May maintaining a positive sign, continuing the impressive rally that has been running since last October (around +35%).

More specifically, during today's session, the General Index fell slightly by 0.43% to 1,496.35 points, losing 6.5 points compared to Monday's close (1,502.79 points).

The banking index, after reaching new 8-year highs, took a brief "pause,"  ending at -0.24% and 1,334 points.

The shares of the National Bank of Greece fell 0.82% to 8.45 euros, with a total turnover of more than 50 million euros. Beyond that, Eurobank's shares fell -0.42% and 2.132 euros; Piraeus' shares closed -0.16% and 3.844 euros; and Alpha Bank's shares gained +0.94% and 1.768 euros.

In the high-cap index (-0.44% and 3,642 points), Motor Oil shares folded -3.3% and 26.9 euros, moving slightly away from their historical highs (28 euros). At the same time, Jumbo, OPAP, and Autohellas shares lost more than 1%. On the other hand, Cenergy and Viohalco gained 3%, with the former hitting a new all-time high (EUR 8.8). Hellaktor's shares also gained 2.5%.

As for the mid-cap index (+0.04% and 2,401 points), ADMIE shares stood out positively at +3.6% and 2.29 euros, with Fourlis and Lavipharm shares gaining around 2%. In contrast, shares of Premia, Profile, PPA, and Aluminium lost at least 2%, while shares of Intracom Holdings and Intralot contracted by almost 1.5%.
