The Athens Stock Exchange returned today (27/5) to the 1,480 points area, with buyers maintaining - albeit with difficulty, the "reins" for the vast majority of the first session of the new week.
It is clear, moreover, that breaking 13-year highs requires more "fuel" and more trading activity, which has been quite limited in recent days.
More specifically, during today's session, the General Index recorded a marginal increase of 0.24% to 1,481.23 points, gaining 3.5 points compared to Friday's close (1,488.87 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 17 points (from 1,477.37 to 1,494.49 points), with trading turnover at 81 million euros due to the Wall Street and London holidays.
The banking index "pulled" a reaction after the recent pullback from 8-year highs, ending +1.59% and 1,325 points.
National Bank shares gained +2.34% and 8.49 euros, Eurobank shares followed at +1.87% and 2.12 euros, Alpha Bank shares traded +1.06% and 1.718 euros, and Piraeus shares were up +0.50% and 3.809 euros.
In the high-cap index (+0.54% and 3,600 points), OTE shares expanded by almost 3% and returned to 14 euros. Lamda Development, Motor Oil and EYDAP shares also rose by more than 1%. Mytilineos shares recovered +1.5% and 37.5, as from tomorrow they will have a new weighting in the FTSE Russell indices. On the flip side, Cenergy's shares corrected to -4.3% and 8.4 euros, with shares of Coca-Cola, Viohalco, Quest and Aegean losing at least 2%.
As for the mid-cap index (-0.41% and 2,357 points), shares of Kri Kri stood out negatively at -3.1% and fell below 11 euros. Profile and Lavipharm contracted by 2.1% and 2.9%, respectively, while shares of Austriacard, Dimand, Fourlis, ADMIE and PPA closed down by more than 1%.
On the other hand, Intracom Holdings and Premia rose by more than 1.5%, while shares of Intrakat and Techniki Olympiani gained 1% each.
