The works for the implementation of the new Patras-Pyrgos Road Axis are continuing at a fast pace and on schedule, according to the office of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who visited a construction site in Vrachneika, Achaia.
The Deputy Ministers of Infrastructure and Transport, Nikos Tachiaos and Christina Alexopoulou, as well as AVAX Group CEO Konstantinos Mitzalis, briefed the Prime Minister on the status of the projects, which currently employ more than 1,000 people.
The works, with a budget of €295 million, funded by a combination of European and national funds, private capital, and bank loans, are progressing on schedule, and the new 75-kilometre motorway is expected to be delivered to traffic in 2025.
At the same time, flood protection works and bridge and crossing strengthening works are being constructed under the concession agreement. In addition, work has already been completed to upgrade road safety on the existing Patras-Pyrgos road until the completion of the construction of the new road axis.
The modern motorway is expected to contribute to road safety and shorten the route to and from Pyrgos and Ancient Olympia, as well as to the wider development of the Western Peloponnese.
