GEK Terna has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft, providing a framework of actions aimed at accelerating the digital transition and achieving the Group's sustainable innovation and growth objectives.

The strategic partnership between GEK Terna Group and Microsoft includes enhancing the transition to Azure Cloud services, improving a range of digital operations, leveraging the potential of data analytics with artificial intelligence, and implementing innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions.

DIGITAL INNOVATION

The implementation of the above is also accompanied by the creation of a Digital Innovation Hub (DiGiHub) within the Group, which will act as an overall reference centre for digital innovation by bringing together industry best practices through the successful adoption of Microsoft technology solutions, in collaboration with the IT departments of all Group companies.

The partnership ensures GEK TERNA Group access to best practices in the sectors in which it operates, to Microsoft's specialized engineers, the further development and integration of software and digital platforms such as M365, Azure, Power Platform, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, as well as access to the latest IT technologies, and the implementation of systematic training (upskilling & reskilling) for GEK TERNA Group's human resources.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Ms. Yianna Andronopoulou, Managing Director of Microsoft Greece, Cyprus and Malta, Mr. Angelos Benopoulos, Executive Advisor and Executive Member of the Board of Directors of GEK Terna stated: "The signing of the MoU marks an extremely positive and multiply important development, with numerous benefits for GEK TERNA Group, ensuring the successful implementation of safer and more innovative technologies for the Group and its subsidiaries, and is a practical recognition of the progress made in recent years in the digital transformation of GEK TERNA Group by Microsoft itself, one of the world's largest technology companies focused on software, productivity, IT security and artificial intelligence solutions".

Microsoft's Managing Director for Greece, Cyprus & Malta, Yanna Andronopoulou, said: "GEK TERNA is taking a huge step by creating this digital innovation centre and we are proud to be chosen as a co-leader recognizing, among other things, Microsoft's position as a pioneer in the artificial intelligence platform revolution. It is truly a highly strategic move to bridge more traditional sectors of our economy with the digital age with an innovation centre that essentially acts as a gateway to new technologies, process improvement, enhancing customer experience thus maintaining competitive advantage but also attracting better talent."
