Prior to the two agreements being signed, Panos Xenokostas, the CEO of ONEX and president of the Hellenic Shipyards Association, stated that the goal is to build 30 tugs, at least 20 of which will be delivered by the end of 2026. He was making reference to the tugs' shipbuilding program and the production line.

He also spoke of a historic deal worth more than 280 million euros, which will create hundreds of jobs, not only in the shipyards but also in the companies that will support this partnership and the project.

Mr. Xenokostas thanked the Ministry of Shipping for its significant contribution in shaping the institutional framework for the Greek shipyards, stressing that it is always a supporter of everything that happens in the Greek yards, "untying Gordian knots and helping to take the next steps.".

Secretary General of Ports and Port Policy, Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, commented: "Ship technology is increasing more and more We want more safety at the tug level. It is important for Greece that the two shipyards start a production line, as this way they will be able to have export activity in the future, which will strengthen the shipbuilding industry and the Greek economy at the same time."
