Increased to €3 billion in April
In April 2024, the total value of imports was €7,480 million, a 19.8% increase from €6,241.7 million in the same month in 2023.

The total value of imports in April 2024 amounted to €7,480 million, compared to €6,241.7 million euros in the same month of 2023, an increase of 19.8%. The corresponding value excluding petroleum products increased by €970.2 million, i.e., 20.5%, while excluding petroleum products and ships increased by €968.5 million, i.e., 20.6%, compared to April 2023.

On the other hand, the total value of exports in April reached €4,467.1 million ($4,806.5 million) compared to €4,019.4 million ($4,421.8 million) in the same month of 2023, showing an increase in euros of 11.1%. The corresponding value excluding petroleum products is higher by €463.1 million, or 17%, and excluding petroleum products records an increase of €464.2 million, or 17.1%, compared to April 2023.

Thus, the trade deficit reached €3,012.9 million, showing an increase of 35.6%. The corresponding value excluding oil products showed an increase in the deficit of €507.1 million, i.e., 25.3%, while excluding oil products and ships showed an increase of €504.3 million, i.e., 25.5% compared to April 2023.

The total value of exports in the period January–April 2024 amounted to €16,805.7 million compared to €17,872.0 million (USD 19,329.2 million) in the same period of the year 2023, showing a decrease 6.0%. 

The corresponding value excluding petroleum products decreased by €400.5 million, or 3.3%, and the corresponding value excluding petroleum products and ships decreased by €350.2 million, or 2.9%, compared to the January-April 2023 period.

The trade deficit in the period January–April 2024 amounted to €10,997.1 million compared to €9,557.2 million in the same period of the year 2023, showing an increase in euros of 15.1%. The corresponding figure excluding oil products increased by €1,330.9 million, i.e. 17.3%, and the corresponding figure excluding oil products and ships increased by €1,268.3 million, i.e. 16.6%
