The Athens Stock Exchange completed its third consecutive upward session, with buyers achieving another victory despite the volatility abroad, leading the General Index close to the 1,460-point area.
Banks were again the main support of the Greek market, which on the one hand continued the recovery from the recent lows of 1,424 points and on the other hand "trimmed" the distance from this year's highs of 1,502 points to -3%.
Thus, the first week of June and summer ended on a positive note, with the five-day change estimated at +1.9%, halting the liquidations recorded in the last 10 days of May.
More specifically, during today's session, the General Index recorded a slight increase of 0.38% to 1,458.37 points, gaining 5.5 points compared to Thursday's close (1,452.85 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 12 points (from 1,450.83 to 1,462.22 points), with a trading turnover of just 82 million euros, of which 5.2 million euros were for pre-agreed packages.
The banking index, with the +3% gain of the previous two days, continued on a high buying pace, ending +1.71% and 1,296 points.
National Bank shares climbed +2.97% and 8.264 euros; Eurobank shares widened +1.06% and 2.101 euros; Piraeus shares closed +0.66% and 3.81 euros; and Alpha Bank shares gained +1.66% and 1.62 euros.
In the high-cap index (+0.58% and 3,540 points), Jumbo's share gained 2% and exceeded again the 27 euros. Autohellas shares also climbed 2%, recovering from 15-month lows. Cenergy, at the same time, "flew" to EUR 9.29 (+1.4%), hitting another all-time high, while Titan Cement's shares returned above EUR 31 (+1.8%). On the other hand, Motor Oil's shares fell 2.1% to EUR 26.1, with Helleniq Energy, Elvalhalcor, and Terna Energy losing at least 0.8%.
As for the mid-cap index (-0.58% and 2,326 points), PPA shares stood out negatively at -2.5% and 25.3 euros, with shares of EYATH and Premia retreating around -1%. Intrakat and ADMIE lost 1% each. On the flip side, shares of Austriacard, Lavipharm, and Alumyl gained more than 1%. A special mention should be made of EKTER, whose shares soared +8%.
