The contract for the award of the tender for the development of the government park "Andreas Lentakis" in the former premises of EVO-PYRKAL in Daphne was signed. The Strategic Contracts Unit of the Hellenic Republic Asset Fund anticipates announcing the tender right away and implementing the project using the PPP method.

Kostis Hatzidakis, the Minister of National Economy and Finance, and Panagiotis Stamboulidis, the Fund's appointed advisor, both signed the contract.

The project concerns the construction, financing, maintenance, and operation of the Governmental Park "Andreas Lentakis" and includes the creation of a new administrative complex of buildings as well as an urban park that will serve as a "green lung" for the wider area at the EVO-PYRKAL premises in Ymittos.

More specifically, the "Andreas Lentakis" Government Park will be developed on an area of 154 hectares where PYRKAL is currently housed, the facilities of which will be transferred to other sites in Attica. The remaining 30% (46.5 acres) of the area will be buildable, while 70% (107.5 acres) will be open green space and public and common areas, according to the Special Urban Plan that the Ministry of Environment has approved. This includes both new buildings and parts of the existing buildings that will be retained and restored.

Nine ministries (Finance, Development and Investment, Environment and Energy, Labour and Social Affairs, Rural Development and Food, Health, Tourism, Culture and Sports, Interior) and some institutions (ADE, EESYP SA, TAIPED SA, ETAD SA) will be relocated to the park. These services are currently housed mainly in the centre of Athens but also in Piraeus, Maroussi, and Cholargos, in a total of 127 buildings, of which 107 are leased from the Greek State and the remaining 20 are privately owned.

The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, stated that "the creation of a government park and green lung in the heart of the urban fabric of the Daphne-YYmittos area is an emblematic redevelopment for the whole of Attica. A regeneration that relieves the centre, creates open spaces and recreational areas in former industrial facilities, saves resources for the public sector, and upgrades the quality of life of the residents of the wider area".

Executive Councillor and Head of the Strategic Contracts Unit of the Hellenic Investment Fund, Panagiotis Stamboulidis, said: "For the Hellenic State Property Fund, the decision of the State and the Ministry of Finance to entrust us with the implementation of one of the largest tenders ever conducted by the Greek public sector is both a great responsibility and a challenge. The Government Park "Andreas Lentakis" is a project that will have a strong social, economic, and environmental footprint for the residents of the Prefecture of Attica. It is a project that rationalizes the costs of the public administration, upgrades the services to public officials, and generates a new dynamic economy within the urban fabric of Attica.".
