No radical change in the taxation of freelancers
Noting that the number of freelancers who have appealed against the tax imposed on them "is not high," Alexis Patelis clarified that there is no chance of changing the tax reform for independent contractors.

The implementation of the tax reform for freelancers, stressing that there is no possibility of a radical revision and changes in the short-term lease regime that will be made after the summer, was mentioned by the head of the Economic Office of the General Secretariat of the Prime Minister of the Presidency of the Government.

Alexis Patelis spoke at the 1st International Conference of TMEDE, held under the auspices of the Bank of Greece and the Technical Chamber of Greece, entitled "Redefining the Future Horizons: Designing the Sustainable Strategies of Tomorrow.".

Alexis Patelis clarified that there is no possibility of revising the tax reform for freelancers, noting that the number of freelancers who have appealed against the tax imposed on them "is not high.".

He also announced new changes to the Airbnb-type short-term rental scheme after the summer, with tweaks to time limits and taxation, asserting that "there will certainly have to be an adjustment period" to implement any changes.

Enhancing competition in all sectors, including banking, will be one of the government's key objectives in the coming period, the prime minister's economic adviser stressed.

Speaking on "Investment in Greece and the Internationally Changing Environment," Al. Patelis stressed that "stimulating competition in all sectors, and not only in banking, will be one of the government's objectives. Let us remember that during the decade of crisis, many companies went bankrupt, thus limiting competition in the market. Something similar happened in the banking sector. We need to see how to stimulate competition in all sectors."
