The Athens Stock Exchange continues to be highly volatile, with investors making nervous moves in anticipation of the new government's formation and amid the wider instability abroad.

It is clear that sentiment in the Greek market has deteriorated recently, with turnover moving to consistently low levels and the General Index oscillating within a narrow range between 1,424 and 1,460 points.

On the other hand, resilient fundamentals, strong dividend yields, and pending business deals provide sufficient support to prevent valuable support from being lost.

Against this backdrop, in today's session, the General Index is down a subtle 0.05% to 1,439.12 points, almost unchanged from Thursday's close (1,438.44 points).

The arc of the daily fluctuations extends over two points (from 1,437.21 to 1,439.18 points), with the turnover of the trading being just 2.5 million euros in the first 20 minutes.

On the board, now, with no stock particularly standing out, the investor sees banks registering small losses of up to 0.9%, with PPC remaining below 11 euros and Mytilineos moving tentatively towards 36 euros.

The banking index shows controlled losses at -0.46% and 1,279 points, continuing to digest recent highs (1,349 points) ahead of the distribution of the first dividends.

Piraeus shares are limited to -0.82% and EUR 3.729; Alpha Bank shares are down -0.9% and EUR 1.6025; Eurobank shares are trading -0.33% and EUR 2.141; and National Bank shares are almost unchanged at EUR 7.97.

In the high-cap index (-0.06% and 3,495 points), Mytilineos shares are up +0.5% and 36 euros, with Coca - Cola shares up 0.7% and returning to 32 euros. Quest's share, meanwhile, expands to +1.1% and 5.4 euros. On the other hand, Titan Cement's shares retreat to -0.6% and 30.4 euros. Jumbo shares, meanwhile, lose 0.30%.

As for the mid-cap index (+0.07% and 2,289 points), Intrakat's share is reduced by 1.1% and falls below 5 euros. Fourlis, Ideal and HKE also fold by almost 1%. On the other hand, Intracom Holdings' shares recover from yesterday's plunge (more than -4%) and gain 1.1%, with Kri Kri's shares following at +0.9%.
