The inclusion of the Sapphous stream settlement projects in the "Environment and Climate Change" programme of the ESPA 2021-2027, with the Region of Attica as a beneficiary, announced the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis.
The total public expenditure amounts to €27,057,700 and concerns settlement works in the Sapphous stream, covering the section from the boundaries of the municipalities of Maroussi and Kifissia to the entrance to the Attica Road transit pipeline.
Specifically, it includes the construction of technical works at road junctions, settlement with a trapezoidal cross-section using wire mesh lining, retaining works, safety parapets, and works to adjust the discharge of existing stormwater drainage works that discharge into the stream at various locations.
The relevant integration act was issued by the Special Secretariat for the Management of European Regional Development Fund and Cohesion Fund Programs.
The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, said: "As we have committed to the local community and the local government, we are proceeding with the implementation of an important infrastructure project for the municipalities of North Athens and for Attica as a whole. Interventions such as this contribute to shielding the country against the effects of the climate crisis and improving the everyday lives of citizens more broadly. At the same time, they are further proof of how the 'not a single euro will be lost' of the European resources that this government has secured for the country is translated into practice. We continue steadfastly on the path of improving infrastructure, sustainable development and reforms, and creating new jobs for the benefit of the economy and society.".
