The Athens Stock Exchange is trying to put a brake on the 3-day downward streak today (18/6), with buyers attempting a first reaction, after the big losses of the previous days.

The 1,400 points are still the main support of the Greek market, which has been "paralyzed" by the political developments in France, amid a pervasive climate of uncertainty and reduced visibility.

Thus, the retracement so far from the 1,500-unit peaks amounts to 6.5%, which has made several listed companies attractive again, justifying a bullish "turnaround".

More specifically, during today's session, the General Index is up slightly by 0.57% to 1,414.95 points, gaining almost 11 points compared to Monday's close (1,404.11 points).

The arc of the daily fluctuations extends to eight points (from 1,407.20 to 1,415.02 points), with the turnover of the transactions ranging at 3.5 million in the first 15 minutes.

On the board, now, the National Bank is trying to recover at 8 euros, while Piraeus is also trying to "break away" from the 5-month lows. Beyond that, ADMIE is showing a gain of more than 3% in the wake of the publication of its first quarter financials.

The banking index is looking for a first reaction to the streak of three negative sessions, and is currently up +0.79% to 1,237 points.

National Bank shares are up +1.20% and 7.94 euros, Piraeus shares are up +0.74% and 3.542 euros, Alpha Bank shares are trading +0.33% and 1.529 euros, while Eurobank shares are up +0.64% and 2.047 euros.

In the high-cap index (+0.46% and 3,421 points), Helleniq Energy's shares are dynamically gaining +2% and 8.1 euros, while Elvalhalcor -Ellaktor shares are also moving above 2%. Motor Oil, Sarantis, Aegean, Quest and Jumbo follow at least +1%, with Titan Cement, PPC and OTE shares trailing at +0.8%.

As for the mid-cap index (+0.57% and 2,264 points), ADMIE shares make a mini-rally at +3% and 2.18 euros, thanks to satisfactory quarterly results. PPA, Kri-Kri, Intracom and Aluminum gain between 2% and 3%, while shares of Fourlis, Premia and Intralot expand by more than 1%. In contrast, Austriacard shares lose 1.20%.
