It is a "flagrant violation" of the Prespa Agreement, according to Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, that the state and political leadership of North Macedonia have chosen not to use "the constitutional name of the country in public speeches domestically."
Prior to a meeting with his counterparts from the European Union, Gerapetritis stated in Luxembourg that "adherence to international law and international agreements is the basis of international peace and security and does not involve its selective application."
His remarks coincide with the day that Hristijan Mickoski, the newly appointed prime minister of North Macedonia, called the country's constitutional name "North" "shameful."
Additionally, the minister stated that Greece is "by the side of Cyprus, which is currently being threatened in a crude and cynical way," emphasizing that "it is unacceptable to threaten a member state's existence and sovereignty."
