Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent the message that citizens are asking the government for more effort and that "we must move to a dynamic restart," speaking at the first meeting of the New Democracy's Central Committee after the European elections of June 9.

"The citizens trusted us and gave us another large percentage. They gave us a mandate for a fair Greece, and this mandate is fully valid after the European elections. The result may not have been the target we had set. We must interpret the voters' attitude correctly and proceed to a dynamic restart," the Prime Minister said, making special reference to the high abstention rate.

He added that "the citizens have many demands from us: fewer mistakes, more results, and not inexpensive words,"  while he assessed that "in Europe, significant turbulence is expected, while in our neighbourhood there are wars with uncertain outcomes.".

Regarding the government's stance, Kyriakos Mitsotakis clarified that he will insist on the issue of multinationals and "our proposal for a joint protection of airspace by all EU countries.".

"We will continue to put our election commitments into action: better wages, lower taxes, to shield our country," the prime minister said, adding that the government must stay away from dilemmas "about a supposed turn to the centre or to the right.". "The road leads us only forward," he said, appreciating that such "outdated labels" have been overcome.
