In a letter to the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, 87 MPs and members of the EL stress the need for an immediate convocation of the party's organs.
In their letter, the 87 note that in the European elections, SYRIZA "lost forces" and that "the large social majority does not see an alternative progressive proposal.". They also speak of "divisive tactics, dismissals, and targeting of executives" and stress that the sudden opening of a debate on "ethics and transparency" in SYRIZA "traumatises the area" at a time when "we should be exercising tough opposition to the government of New Democracy.".
Moreover, they say that "it is not possible that such crucial decisions on rationalisation in the party's media, which concern workers, and decisions of a historic nature for the Left, such as the suspension of the daily paper of Dawn, are taken without even being discussed in a collective body.".
"All these crucial issues, the signatories, deputies, and members of the Central Committee of SYRIZA—the Progressive Alliance—will be raised at the meetings of the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee of the party, bodies that have essentially remained inactive for the entire previous period. This requires that the meeting of the Central Committee be held immediately and for two days to give all members of the Central Committee the opportunity to adequately position themselves," the letter concludes.
