Unemployment revised to 10.6% in May
The Hellenic Statistical Authority's (ELSTAT) adjusted employment and unemployment estimates for May show a slight decrease in unemployment from April.

Unemployment was marginally lower in May than in April, according to the adjusted employment and unemployment estimates of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in May 2024 stood at 10.6%, compared to the upwardly revised 11.2% in May 2023 and the downwardly revised 10.7% in April 2024.

Employed persons totaled 4,249,074 persons, an increase of 53,313 persons compared to May 2023 (1.3%) and a decrease of 63,083 persons compared to April 2024 (-1.5%).

Unemployed persons amounted to 504,924 persons, a decrease of 21,707 persons compared to May 2023 (-4.1%) and 11,472 persons compared to April 2024 (-2.2%).

Persons under 75 years of age who are not included in the labor force, or "persons outside the labor force,"  i.e., persons not working or looking for work, amounted to 3,026,511, a decrease of 54,608 persons compared to May 2023 (-1.8%) and an increase of 72,256 persons compared to April 2024 (2.4%).
