The summer sales start today and end on Saturday, August 31, 2024, while, according to the current law, shops can open voluntarily on July 14, the first Sunday of the sales period, with opening hours set from 11.00 to 20.00.
According to estimates reported by the Athens News Agency, the retail sector's target for this summer is for total turnover in July and August to move above last year's bar of 7 billion euros, while it is estimated that the percentage of sales at the beginning will range from 30% to 50% and towards the end of the two-month discount period may reach 70%.
It is recalled that the five retail sectors with the largest participation in the turnover of the summer sales are the clothing and footwear sector in specialised stores, the cosmetics and pharmaceuticals sector, the watches and jewellery sector, the furniture and household equipment sector, and the electrical and electronic appliances sector.
