The completion of the project of undergrounding part of Poseidonos Avenue in the framework of the urban regeneration in Elliniko, which is in full swing in the area of the former airport of Elliniko, is getting closer and closer, according to an announcement by Lamda Development.

The avenue of Poseidonosos will be underground, as LAMDA Development has announced. Poseidonos undergrounding will be one of the most modern tunnels in Europe, which will upgrade the city's road network, ensuring faster passage of vehicles and connecting the coastal front with the Hellenikon Park and the city.

According to the data released, excavation is more than 80% complete and 60% of the wall concreting has been completed. The construction of 75% of the base plate has also been completed. With the undergrounding of Poseidonos road along 1.5 km from Alimos beach to the height of Agios Kosmas marina, traffic congestion will be reduced as 6 traffic lights are removed and 6 lanes of traffic are created (three from the ascent and three from the descent).

The entire area currently covered by the coastal road will be transformed into a green space that will unite Metropolitan Park with the beach, while a light traffic road and a cycle path will pass through the site.

Through the undergrounding of Poseidonos Avenue, the company says, the road network will be improved and access to the beach will be facilitated. The largest infrastructure project in Elliniko will be completed in 2026.
