The General Index of Industrial Production recorded an increase of 6.7% in May 2024 on an annual basis, i.e., compared to the corresponding index of May 2023, while then it recorded an increase of 2.3% compared to the same month of 2022, according to data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

The average general index of industrial production for the period January–May 2024, compared to the corresponding index for the period January–May 2023, showed an increase of 5.8%.

The seasonally adjusted General Index of Industrial Production of May 2024, compared to the corresponding index of April 2024, showed a decrease of 3.4%.

The index for the fabricated metal products manufacturing sector showed the largest percentage decrease, while the index for the other transport equipment manufacturing sector showed the largest percentage increase in May 2024 compared to April 2024.

When comparing the May 2024 indexes with the May 2023 indexes, the largest percentage increase was recorded in the electricity supply industry, while the largest percentage decrease was recorded in the mining and quarrying industry.
