The total premium production of the member companies of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies amounted to €2.33 billion in the period January–May 2024, recording an increase of 12.1% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
Of this amount, €1.13 billion relates to the life insurance sector, which showed an increase of 14.6% in premium production in this period, and €1.19 billion to the non-life sector, which showed an increase of 9.9%.
The capture of premium production refers to the recording of the total premiums written from direct insurance (including policy rights) in full amounts (regardless of whether they involve periodic payments or one-off premium payments), as classified in the insurance classes according to Law 4364/2016 (following the adjustment of the data from the previous period).
47 insurance companies participated in the Association survey, of which 42 were active in non-life insurance and 14 in life insurance.
Of the 47 insurance companies, 26 were operating in Greece as joint stock insurance companies, 1 as a mutual insurance cooperative, 15 as branches of a foreign insurance company, and 5 European insurance companies were operating under the free provision of services.
