The Athens Stock Exchange said goodbye to today's session (12/7) at the highs of the day, as the positive sentiment abroad boosted the buying interest, resulting in the General Index reaching 1,452 points.
In fact, this is the highest level in the last month (since July 10), which confirms the relatively satisfactory performance of the Greek market, which gained at least 0.8% in the five-day period.
On the other hand, however, it is clear that further fuel and new catalysts are needed in order to approach this year's peaks (1,502 points), which are still 3.5% away from current levels.
Against this backdrop, during today's session, the General Index posted a slight gain of 0.44% to close at the daily high of 1,452.28 points, gaining about 6.5 points compared to Thursday's close (1,445.91 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 11 points (from 1,441.48 to 1,452.28 points), with trading turnover at 103 million euros, of which 16 million euros were pre-agreed packages.
Despite the intra-session pressure, the banking index managed to make a comeback, finishing at +0.60% and 1,273 points.
Alpha's share expanded +2.44% and 1.68 euros; Piraeus' share rose +1.58% and 3.728 euros; Eurobank's share traded +1.01% and 2.096 euros; and ΝBG share was limited to -1.43% and 7.87 euros.
In the high-cap index (+0.61% and 3,535 points), Coca - Cola shares "flew" +2.6% and returned to 32.3 euros, reaching a breath away from the 32.8 euros resistance. Lamda reached a new 2.5-year high, gaining +1.7% and 7.4 euros. AIA, OPAP and Cenergy closed close to +1%, while Jumbo shares recovered 0.8%, which was under intense pressure over the previous weekend. In contrast, Motor Oil shares retreated -1.4% to EUR 22.6, remaining at 2024 lows. The shares of PPC - Autohellas also fell by around 1.5%.
As for the mid-cap index (+0.32% and 2,319 points), Intrakat shares stood out positively at +1.2% and approached 5 euros again. Fourlis, Profile and Intralot followed around +1%. On the flip side, Lavipharm's shares were down 2.9%, while shares of PPA slipped by up to 1.5%. special mention should be made of Kekrops, which soared by 6.2% following the acquisition of 4.6% by CEO Petros Souretis
