Extraordinary taxation of energy producers for two months to subsidize electricity consumption in August was announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview on SKAI's main newscast, underscoring that the details will be announced tomorrow in an extraordinary interview by the Minister of Energy and Environment, Mr. Skylakakis.

It was announced that a one-off charge will be imposed on energy producers to subsidise electricity bills in August. Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 17 July, the measures will be specified by the Minister of Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis.

The Prime Minister explained the reasons for the intervention and, as he said, the grid of measures to be implemented to protect Greek households from large and largely unjustified increases in wholesale prices.

Mr. Mitsotakis said that in the last 10 days there has been a huge spike in wholesale energy prices across south-eastern Europe.
