Yiannos Kontopoulos, the CEO of the Athens Exchange, stated on the sidelines of the event for the start of trading of Softweb shares that a number of businesses from the information technology and food sectors appear hot for the Alternative Market of the Athens Exchange.
As he noted, the interest of companies is real, and it is a matter of timing, i.e. finding the right moment to make them "press the button".
THE EXAMPLES
Especially for the IT sector, the successful cases of companies such as Epsilon Net and Entersoft, which started from the Alternative, reached a good level, and subsequently entered the Main Market of the Athens Stock Exchange, are sort of "archetypal examples of what we want to see" and seem to have mobilised the interest of other companies in the sector.
THE LATEST IPOs
We recall that last February, Athens International Airport went public, raising €738 million—one of the largest amounts in decades. Additionally, following the IPOs of the following companies in 2023, Noval Properties of the Viohalco Group recently made its debut on the SA's board:
- Orilina Properties

A year before, in 2022, Dimand and Blue Cedar were listed and Alpha Trust was transferred to the Main Market, while Real Consulting and Interlife entered the market in 2021.
TRANSITIONS
During the summer, it is estimated that Performance Technologies' transfer to the Main Market will take place, while Real Consulting is expected to follow the same path in late 2024 or early next year.
