The Athens Stock Exchange is moving steadily in negative territories today, looking only for some supports in order not to lose the 1,470 points and open the way to test its nearby supports.
In particular, the General Index is down 0.52% at 1,472.53 points, while turnover is at 36.2 million and volume at 8.3 million pieces. The FTSE 25 is also down 0.58%, at 3,598.09 points, while the banking sector is down 1.14%, at 1,329.37 points.
After Monday's bullish breakout, the market appears to be folding back up again, taking some of the gains from July. But without worrying the longs yet, as it seems to be holding a safe distance from the nearby support of 1,460 points, provided, of course, that the corrective move stops soon.
Trading remains low, as if one excludes the 8.6 million euros that have been moved through packages, especially in Piraeus and OPAP, the "net" turnover has not even exceeded 30 million euros. The market is in a summer period and this is reflected in the small movements even in the flagship securities of the "25", which remain in the realm of the short-term.
Perhaps greater diversification is to be seen from tomorrow, Thursday, as Metlen and Motodynamics open the curtain on the half-year results, with the banking sector, which also sets the pace for the market, expected from next week. Estimates are positive, with Euroxx even expecting to see a strong banking Q2, which will bring revisions.
But the banking sector is under a lot of pressure today, with Alpha Bank, Eurobank, and Piraeus losing more than 1%, as well as PPC, Sarantis, ELHA, and OTE. Close to -1% are also Helleniq Energy, EYDAP, NBG, Lamda, and Cenergy.
GEK Terna, Aegean, Motor Oil, Viochalco, AIA, OPAP, Coca-Cola, Autohellas, and Ellaktor are mildly down, while Terna Energy, Mytilineos, and Jumbo are mildly up. Titan gains 1.30%.
