The Athens Stock Exchange ended a week of considerable volatility, within and even more so outside the borders, in positive territory, with Metlen, Lamda, and AIA outweighing the banking pressures, mainly due to the Alpha dividend.

The Athens Stock Exchange ended a week of considerable volatility, within and even more so outside the borders, in positive territory, with Metlen, Lamda and AIA outweighing the banking pressures, mainly due to the Alpha dividend.

In particular, after some swings at the opening, the General Index stabilized slightly upwards and finally closed at 1,469.25 points with +0.37%, essentially at the highs of the day (1,470.01 points).

The banking index ended 0.49% lower at 1,293.69 points, while the FTSE gained 0.36% to 3,575.55 points, with the mid-cap FTSEM marginally up 0.11% at 2,317.4 points.

On a weekly basis, despite the 3/5 negative sessions, the GC finished with a small gain of 0.33%, while banking corrected -2.1% in a five-day th had dividends for Eurobank (yesterday) and Alpha (today) while ETE takes its turn on Monday. 

Excluding the stakes in TERNA Energy and PPC, banks made the most turnover today, with Alpha (5.1m) down 1.25% to €1.66 as it traded today without the €0.026 dividend.

Eurobank (8.9m) was at EUR 2.038 with -0.59% and Piraeus (8.3m) at EUR 3.78 with -0.55%, while ΝΒG (8.6m) was essentially unchanged at EUR 8.43 (-0.02%).

The market was boosted mainly by Metlen's 2.2% jump to 37 euros on turnover of 5.89 million all in, a day after the company announced record first half results.

Next to it was Lamda (1 million) with +2.89% at 7.48 euros after selling 5 plots of land in Elliniko for 106 million, and AIA at 7.998 euros with +2.67%.

With gains of around 1% in the 25 were PPC (44.151m), Autohellas (68k), and Aegean (414k), while Viohalco (495k), GEK Terna (979k), Jumbo (5m), and Motor Oil (2.9m) all rose around 0.8%.

Beyond the banks, Cenergy (932k) was down -0.94% at EUR 9.53 and ELPE (2.1m) was down -0.88% at EUR 7.335.

In the lower layers, Kri Kri's 2.2% jump to EUR 11.55 on turnover of EUR 232k stood out, while Austriacard (132k) retreated to EUR 5.71 with -2.2%.  And Softweb's stock closed on the limit down (-10%) at 1.96 euros with a turnover of 52 thousand euros.
