One bid from the TERNA Energy-TTITAN consortium was submitted for the PPP project "Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) of the Western Sector of the Region of Central Macedonia.".
This is a project with an estimated value of approximately EUR 202 million and will cover the needs of 10 municipalities in the Thessaloniki Region and 1 million inhabitants. Specifically, it concerns the municipalities of Volvi, Lagada, Neapolis-Sikeon, Ampelokipon-Menemeni, Pavlos Melas, and about 35% of the Municipality of Thessaloniki itself.
The new facilities to be created are expected to have a capacity of 262,700 metric tons per year of mixed and 38,100 metric tons per year of pre-sorted organics. The plant is located on an area of approximately 150–200 hectares, close to the Mavrorachi landfill site.
It should be noted that the consortia Avax-MORE (motor oil)-Thalis, Mytilineos-Mesogeos, Intrakat, and Elektor-Aktor Concessions had also participated in the initial stage of the tender.
It is recalled that the original deadline was set for July 16, but was extended by the Regional Association of Solid Waste Management Authorities (FODSA) of Central Macedonia, as no offer was submitted due to technical problems in the National System of Electronic Public Procurement (ESIDES).
