Unemployment down to 9.6% in June
Unemployment fell to 9.6% in June, according to corrected rates from the ELSTAT Labor Force Survey and seasonally adjusted estimates for employment and unemployment in June 2024.

Unemployment fell to 9.6% in June, according to corrected rates from the ELSTAT Labor Force Survey and seasonally adjusted estimates for employment and unemployment in June 2024.

Employed persons increased in the same month by 79,229 compared to June 2023 (1.9%) and by 41,192 compared to May 2024 (1.0%).

The main conclusions of the Labour Force Survey of the Hellenic Statistical Authority 

  • The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in June 2024 stood at 9.6%, compared to the upwardly revised 11.4% in June 2023 and the downwardly revised 10.3% in May 2024.
  • Employed persons totaled 4,293,899 persons, an increase of 79,229 persons compared to June 2023 (1.9%) and 41,192 persons compared to May 2024 (1.0%).
  • Unemployed persons amounted to 456,663 persons, a decrease of 85,865 persons compared to June 2023 (-15.8%) and 30,629 persons compared to May 2024 (-6.3%).
  • Persons under 75 years old not included in the labour force, or "persons outside the labour force,"  i.e., persons neither working nor looking for work, amounted to 3,027,673, a decrease of 16,999 persons compared to June 2023 (-0.6%) and 12,838 persons compared to May 2024 (-0.4%).

The sample of households and individuals in the Labour Force Survey is to be recalibrated in line with the final disaggregated data of the 2021 Population Census, immediately after the final stage of processing is completed.
