Investors on the Athens Stock Exchange are making moves to consolidate part of yesterday's gains, against the backdrop of the pressure on European indices.

In particular, the General Index is moving at 1,470.7 points with a -0.5% drop and turnover at 40 million euros, while 10 million pieces have been traded.

The banking index is at 1,302.9 points with -0.17%, the FTSE is down 0.4% at 3,592 points, as is the mid-cap FTSEM, which is at 2,302 points with -0.42%.

Unlike Piraeus yesterday, ΝΒG 's strong results don't seem to give a boost to the bank's shares, which are down 0.7%. This is probably attributed to possible discounting, but also to the general lack of investor interest after the remainder of the HFSF disinvestment was finally postponed to the autumn.

Alpha and Eurobank are also down, with losses of around 0.7%.

Piraeus, on the other hand, continues to gain speed from yesterday's 3.5% rally with new gains of 2% today and is "flirting" with the placement price (EUR 4).

The smaller Optima is also marginally down, despite a 57% increase in its half-year net profit reported before the open.

On the other hand, Ellaktor, which is attempting to get a reaction after a 9-day downward trend with a 2% gain today, is the market's supporter aside from Piraeus. Additional help comes from OTE and Jumbo at +0.4%, but these are the only 4 positive stocks in the 25.

On the sellers' moves, Coca Cola surrenders yesterday's 1.8% gain to -1.4% today, PPC is down at -1.2% and Metlen, Aegean, Lamda and Titan are all down in the 0.8% range.

In the mid-caps, only Austricard and Dimand are up, with Intralot at -0.8% with a turnover of over 800k.
