The Athens Stock Exchange continues its upward reaction today (16/8), which is constantly finding buyers at levels above 1,400 points, thanks to the significantly improved climate abroad.

The Athens Stock Exchange continues its upward reaction today (16/8), which is constantly finding buyers at levels above 1,400 points, thanks to the significantly improved climate abroad.

The recovery of confidence in the prospects of the US economy has a clear imprint on investor psychology, which reasonably affects the Greek market, which is targeting the 1,440 resistance level.

Thus, Athens Avenue sets the stage for the 5th consecutive positive session, extending over +6.1% the recovery from the recent lows of 1,341 units (closing August 5).

More specifically, on the last day of the week, the General Index rises by 0.86% to 1,434.58 points, gaining 11.5 points compared to Wednesday's close (1,423.05 points).

The arc of the daily fluctuations extends to five points (from 1,430.05 to 1,435.55 points), with the turnover of the transactions ranging at 3.5 million in the first 10 minutes.

Alpha Bank shares gain +1.69% and 1.625 euros, Piraeus shares rise +1.17% and 3.98 euros, Ethniki share trade +1.49% and 8.042 euros; and Eurobank shares follow at +1.23% and 2.067 euros.

In the high-cap index (+0.92% and 3,502 points), Motor Oil shares are up +1.60% and 21.6 euros, with Aegean, Viohalco, Titan Cement and Metlen shares trailing by more than 1%. At the same time, Jumbo's shares climb 2% and approach 24 euros, continuing the recovery from 15-month lows. Hellaktor shares also show gains of 2%.

As for the mid-cap index (+0.23% and 2,267 points), Kri-Kri's shares stand out at +2.4% and climb to new all-time highs (12.4 euros). Quest and AVAX, for their part, are up at least 2%, while shares of Intralot, Intracom, EXAE, Trade Estates, Lavipharm, and Fourlis follow by more than 1%. special mention should be made of Kekrops, whose shares are riding on +12% and €1.58.

Overall, on the stock exchange board, 62 stocks are moving up, five stocks are down, and 10 stocks remain unchanged. The market capitalisation is at EUR 99.2 billion.
