With a growth rate of 12.2%, tourism receipts in the half-year, according to the data announced by the Bank of Greece, allowed even in June to record a surplus in the current account balance.
Based on the data, travel revenues in the first six months of the year stood at €6.9 billion, compared to €6.1 billion in the same period in 2023. That is, they added €754 million, or an increase of 12.2%. During this period, non-resident traveler arrivals increased by 15.5%. That is, a larger increase in arrivals than in revenues was recorded.
For June in particular, however, the growth rate is more limited, at 7.7%. In this month, revenues amounted to €3.11 billion compared to €2.89 billion in the previous year, with a positive difference of €223 million.
