With investors staying away, which kept the turnover at stunted levels, today's session (26/8) on the Athens Stock Exchange was completed, which continued to accumulate forces in the "shadow" of 1,440 points.

Selective positioning and the absence of investment risk remained as the dominant characteristics of the domestic market, as geopolitical tensions and the London holiday seem to have had a decisive impact on traders' psychology.

And all this while Athens is waiting for the new financial results of the listed companies (Cenergy, Motor Oil, and Helleniq Energy), as well as the established restructuring of the MSCI indices at the end of this week.

In this environment, in the first session of the five-day session, the General Index recorded a slight increase of 0.35% to 1,437.68 points, gaining five points compared to Friday's close (1,432.60 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at eight points (from 1,430.06 to 1,438.87 points), with a turnover of 63 million euros, of which 2.7 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.

The banking index was almost unchanged, as it finished +0.16% and at 1,283 points, leaving the distance from this year's highs of 1,354 points at -5.5%.

Piraeus shares widened +1.49% and EUR 3,952, Eurobank shares strengthened +0.39% and EUR 2,085, Alpha shares followed at +0.31% and EUR 1,594, while Ethnikis shares folded -1.28% and EUR 8,014.

In the high-cap index (+0.33% and 3,503 points), OTE shares expanded +2.5% and 14.99 euros, with Motor Oil shares recovering +2.4% and 21.6 euros. Autohellas, on the other hand, "flew" to +3.6% and 11.4 euros, while Jumbo, PPC, AIA, and Elvalhalcor shares gained more than 1%. On the opposite side, Viohalco shares fell -1.8% and 5.89 euros, paying the price for the deletion from the FTSE Russell Large Cap. At the same time, Coca - Cola shares lost 1.1%.

As for the mid-cap index (+1.17% and 2,292 points), Intralot's share stood out positively at +3.4% and 1.18 euros after being included in the mid-cap index of the FTSE Russell. Intracom shares also climbed by 4.1%, while Optima and AVAX shares gained at least 2.6% each. In contrast, shares in Intrakat and Dimand were down 1.1% and 1.9%, respectively.
