Just five days have passed since the launch of the new cooperation for the wholesale exchange of sports channels between Nova and Cosmote TV, and already significant results are being recorded in the pay-TV market.
This initiative, which, among other things, was aimed at combating piracy, has led to an increase in the number of users leaving illegal platforms and opting for legal subscriptions.
Consumers appear to have decided to invest in official pay-TV platforms because of the competitive prices that providers are now offering, the decrease in the fragmentation of sports content, and the improved content and services.
The last few days have seen hundreds of posts on social media from old 'pirate' subscribers who are now making the switch to legal, as pirate prices are now almost level with legal subscriptions.
According to the announcement, the result of this cooperation are very encouraging, with the market showing clear signs of a shift towards legal services and, most importantly, the great benefit to the customer. The reduction in piracy, the increase in legal subscriptions and the strengthening of the competitiveness of content providers are positive steps towards the protection of the rights of creators, sport and culture. Of course, it is also positive for state revenues, since hundreds of millions that are traded on the black market every year can now, with this agreement and with new legislative interventions, be transferred to the legal ecosystem and become an added value for society as a whole, for growth and new jobs.
