The Athens Stock Exchange showed the least possible reaction today, after the mini downward series. However, it was again clear that the conditions for an immediate change in the short-term trend were not met.
In this way, the Greek market, failing to follow the upward movement of the international stock exchanges, remained once again stuck within the narrow fluctuation limits of the last nine sessions (1,425 to 1,437 points).
Thus, it did not try to test a possible break of 1,440 points, maintaining the stagnation pattern of the last two weeks, one day before the end of a downward August (-3.5%).
In this environment, in the 4th session of the week, the General Index posted a marginal increase of 0.11% to 1,426.91 points, gaining 1.5 points compared to Wednesday's close (1,425.36 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at eight points (from 1,420.40 to 1,428.70 points), with the turnover of transactions ranging at just 88 million euros, of which 14.9 million euros were for pre-agreed packages.
The banking index, after yesterday's significant decline, did manage to stabilize at current levels, but did not avoid further losses. Thus, it ended at -0.21% and 1,256 points.
Eurobank shares slipped to -0.58% and EUR 2.05, followed by National Bank shares at -0.53% and EUR 7.83, Alpha shares closed at -0.29% and EUR 1.56, while Piraeus shares rose to +0.55% and EUR 3.825.
In the high-cap index (+0.09% and 3,467 points), Motor Oil's shares, despite the optimistic first-half figures, fell -1% and 21.4 euros, as it is expected to exit MSCI's Standard Greece index tomorrow. Lamda - Hellaktor shares also fell by at least 1%. On the other hand, Titan Cement's shares halted their five-day downward streak and returned to EUR 32 (+1.2%). At the same time, OTE's shares expanded by 1.6%, while PPI's shares followed at +1.4%. OPAP and Jumbo, finally, were at +0.9% and +1.2%, respectively.
As for the mid-cap index (+0.24% and 2,287 points), Intralot's shares managed to stand out at +1.39% and 1.17 euros, pending tomorrow's financial results, with Optima's shares following at +1.1% and 12.7 euros.
