The general index of the Retail Trade Turnover Index increased by 7.4% in June 2024 compared to the corresponding index of June 2023, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced today.
Department stores gave a boost to turnover, with a 21.1% jump in turnover from June 2023. Clothing and footwear categories also recorded a big increase in turnover with 10.7% and automotive fuel and lubricants with 10.2%. On the flip side, the Furniture - Electrical - Household Equipment category recorded a 9.3% dip. Compared to the May 2024 index, ELSTAT data showed a 1.0% decline in June.
At the same time:
-The General Volume Index (turnover at constant prices), in the month of June 2024, compared to the corresponding index of June 2023, showed an increase of 5.8% and compared to the corresponding index of May 2024, a decrease of 1.7%.
-The seasonally adjusted General Index of Turnover, in the month of June 2024, compared to the corresponding index of May 2024, showed a decrease of 5.1%.
-The seasonally adjusted General Volume Index, in the month of June 2024, compared to the corresponding index of May 2024, showed a decrease of 4.3% .
