The award of the public contract for the project "Construction of Supplementary Works of the Bramianos Reservoir, Flood Control Works of the Lygia River, and the Myrtos Dam of the Lassithi Region of Crete" was approved by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras.

The subject of the project, with a bid amount of €51.746 million and the contractor being Intrakat, is the construction of additional works to the existing dam and reservoir of Bramianos, the construction of flood protection works of Gra Lygia, as well as the construction of the Mirtos Dam in the Municipality of Ierapetra, Lassithi.

The project was included in the "Environment and Climate Change 2021–2027" program and was considered at the national level, given that it has characteristics of both flood control infrastructure and irrigation/water supply, as its implementation will increase the potential for irrigation water supply in the region.

The project contract will be signed after the pre-contractual audit by the Court of Auditors and the pre-approval of the Managing Authority.
