The registration and development of the properties of the Hellenic Public Properties Company, the redevelopment of the TIF, and the development project in the Corinth Canal are among Growthfund's priorities, as Stefanos Theodorides, Chairman of the Board of Directors, told BnB Daily regarding the assignments and projects that are being launched in the next period.

HELLENIC PUBLIC PROPERTIES

An important project is the assignment that will be made so that in the next two years Hellenic Public Properties Company will have a complete picture for the settlement and development of the 32,000 properties in its portfolio through the preparation of a relevant file. Of the total number of properties, 6 000 will be given priority for development in the first phase.

TIF

According to him, the TIF is preparing the next stage of the tender for the redevelopment of the TIF, a project that will draw in foreign investors, by the end of the year. Especially on the issue of the redevelopment of the TIF, he stressed that the idea has now matured. The process is underway with the aim of launching the tender at the beginning of 2025 and starting work at the beginning of 2026. He added that this is an iconic project that will offer citizens a 100-acre metropolitan park, as well as infrastructure for the development of congress tourism and large exhibitions.  "The aim is for Thessaloniki to become a destination that will involve conferences and major exhibitions throughout the year, as is the case in Barcelona, Cannes, Berlin, and Dubai, areas that live from this, because these activities have a multiplier of 2.6, so for every €1 generated directly by such an activity, another €2.6 is generated in the wider economy."

GONOU & PALATAKI

Continuing, Theodorides said that with the contribution of the Hyperfund, two additional projects are underway in Northern Greece. 000 new jobs—the renovation of the old Government House (Palataki) to transform it into a cultural space in order to highlight a historical part of the city

CORINTH CANAL

Moreover, Mr. Theodorides told BNB Daily that in the coming days the tender for the development of the real estate around the Corinth Canal will mature. In particular, he explained that commercial and cultural activity can be developed there due to the importance of the spot. "There is significant real estate that can be developed into a destination that will have income not only from the passage of ships. Through a relevant study involving commercial and cultural activity, the point, which is one of the most important attractions in Greece, can be developed significantly."

CAPITAL LEVERAGE

Asked about the market's performance, he stressed that there is currently capital leverage related to the Recovery and Stability Fund, with Greece growing above the European average. "Our country has significant momentum of over 2%-2.6%, when the average growth rate in Europe is 0.4%-0.6%. The question is how to maintain and increase this momentum."
