The Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogiannis, has today proceeded to the specification of the measures for short-term rentals, the climate crisis resilience fee, and the cruise fee, which were announced by the Prime Minister at the Thessaloniki International Fair.

Regarding the cruise fee, she announced that it will amount to 20 euros for those disembarking at Mykonos and Santorini and 5 euros for the other ports, with the prices to be effective from next season (1 June to 30 September 2025).

According to estimates by the Ministry of Tourism, the total revenue is expected to reach 50 million euros. 1/3 of the revenue will go to the municipalities, 1/3 to the Ministry of Shipping, and 1/3 to the Ministry of Tourism.

SHORT TERM RENTALS

"The Ministry of Tourism is working on the operating framework for short-term rentals," the Tourism Minister said, noting that "operational and safety standards will be established, as well as a tool for monitoring compliance with this framework," so that this activity can develop for the benefit of the sector as a whole.

Apart from this, she also referred to the increase in the climate crisis fee, pointing out that it is being increased from 0.5 euros to 2 euros for the winter months and from 1.5 euros to 8 euros for the summer months.

Referring overall to the climate crisis response fee, she pointed out that it is being increased by one month for both short-term rentals and hotels and accommodation and noted that part of the revenue from the fee will be entered in the budget of the Ministry of Tourism to cover costs of prevention and rehabilitation of natural disasters and costs of improving infrastructure of the tourism product.

The resilience fee increases for the months of April to October:

  • By 0.5 euro in one- and two-star hotels and in rooms to let and rises to 2 euro.
  • €3 for 4-star hotels, rising to €10.
  • €5 for 5-star hotels and villas, rising to €15 per day.
