Marios Salmas, MP for Aitoloakarnania, was officially expelled from the parliamentary group of New Democracy after the Ethics Committee of the party met.
Mr. Salmas continues as an independent MP, stressing that he will not stop fighting for the many. "If Mr. Mitsotakis writes me off because I reacted to the fortunes being lost on red loans, because I opposed the work agenda on same-sex marriage, because I asked him to control the cartels in precision, then I am honored. But if he's doing it to send a message to others, it's unacceptable. If it is used as a pretext that I edited a photo contest of the Ministry of Culture that was scandalously awarded to a company, then let me state and remind you that scrutiny of MPs and unlimited freedom of speech is a constitutional right and not a reason for expulsion," he said according to Nationall Public TV.
His referral to the committee was in relation to anti-parliamentary, anti-party, and anti-collegiate conduct causing serious damage to the party or another MP.
The straw that broke the camel's back for MP Mario Salma was his latest TV appearances, where he repeated his claims about photo contests by opposing the government on ethical grounds, which could not be tolerated. The Prime Minister sent this message from New York by referring him to the Ethics Committee for removal.
