On Sunday, October 6, 2024, the Greek State will hand over the Attiki Odos motorway to the new concessionaire (New Attiki Odos S.A.), as announced today by the Ministries of Economy and Finance and Infrastructure and Transport following the signing of the contract for the concession of services for the financing, operation, maintenance, and exploitation of Attiki Odos on September 12, 2024.
In this context, by then, the procedures for the transition of the road axis to the new concession regime will have been completed, i.e., among other things, the ratification of the concession agreement by the Parliament and the financial closing of the transaction with the one-off payment of the price.
To this end, the competent directorates of the existing and the new concessionaire are already in direct cooperation for the smooth completion of the procedure, under the direction of the Greek State and the Hellenic State-Helenic Investment Fund.
It is noted that the collection of the price of 3.27 billion euros, which is the highest ever achieved in a tender procedure of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, reduces the public debt of the country by almost 1.5 percentage points of GDP.
