The Athens Stock Exchange completed today (25/9) its 3rd consecutive upward session, maintaining the positive momentum of the current week.
The Greek market, in fact, ended at the highest point of the day, defending with the ... more than the critical threshold of 1,450 points and confirming the effort to end the prolonged stagnation of the last period.
Somehow, the General Index improved its 2024 performance to levels above +13%, which means that the current distance from this year's "peaks" of 1,502 points has been "trimmed" to just -3%.
And all this while investors' eyes remained focused on the National Bank of Greece, where the HFSF will proceed next week with the sale of 10% to 12% of the shares (it controls 18.3% in total), in the latest round of public disinvestment.
Specifically, in the third session of the week, the General Index rose slightly by 0.55% to 1,462.06 points, gaining about eight points compared to Tuesday's close (1,454.10 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 13 points (from 1,449.14 to 1,462.06 points), with a turnover of 114 million euros, of which 7.0 million euros were pre-agreed packages.
The banking index, which has its fair share these days, continued its upward reaction, closing +0.79% and 1,279 points.
ΝΒG shares gained +2.08% and 7.86 euros, Piraeus shares followed at +0.26% and 3.92 euros, Eurobank shares finished +0.39% and 2.078 euros, while Alpha shares remained stagnant at 1.62 euros.
In the high-cap index (+0.51% and 3,562 points), Viohalco and Elvalhalcor shares expanded +1.8% and +3.8%, respectively, with the latter climbing to a 4-month high. OTE shares, meanwhile, gained +2.1% and €15.8, hitting a 22-month high. At the same time, Titan Cement's shares flew to a record high of 34 euros (+1.4%). AIA and Motor Oil, for their part, strengthened by at least 1%. On the flip side, shares of Aegean and GEK Terna were down 0.7%, with Lamda shares trailing at -0.5%.
As for the mid-cap index (+0.31% and 2,348 points), ADMIE shares stood out positively at +2.6% and 2.3 euros, boosted by satisfactory first half results and positive developments on the Cyprus issue. At the same time, the PPA share climbed +2.9% and 28 euros, while the shares of EYATH, Thrace Plastics and Techniki Olympiaki also gained at least 1%. On the contrary, shares of Profile, Quest and Dimand declined by 0.7% to 0.8%, with Intrakat shares losing 1.1%.
